Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated the personnel of the Russian Ground Forces on their professional holiday. The head of state expressed confidence that the soldiers of the Ground Forces will continue to “show a high level of training and ensure the national interests of the country.”
In a congratulatory message published on the official Kremlin website telegram Mr. Putin drew attention to the fact that the current generation of military ground forces continues patriotic traditions. The head of state also noted the courage of the fighters that they showed during the military operation in Ukraine. According to Vladimir Putin, soldiers and veterans of the Ground Forces are “worthy heirs” of outstanding Russian commanders who “gained immortal glory on the fields of large-scale battles.”
Also to congratulate veterans and soldiers of the Ground Forces joined Head of the Russian Ministry of Defense Sergei Shoigu. He noted that “many pages of the military chronicle of our country testify to the unparalleled courage, perseverance and heroism of infantry soldiers and their contribution to the defense and security of our Motherland is truly invaluable.”
According to the Ministry of Defense, the Russian Ground Forces are the oldest and largest branch of the country’s Armed Forces in terms of combat strength. Ground Forces Day is celebrated in Russia every year on October 1, starting in 2006.
