Russian peacekeepers are doing everything to protect the civilian population of Nagorno-Karabakh. Moscow is in close contact with the authorities in Yerevan, Stepanarket and Baku. Russian President Vladimir Putin stated this.
“We are in constant contact with the authorities in Yerevan, Stepanakert and Baku. We hope that we can achieve de-escalation and transfer the problem to a peaceful channel,” the president said at negotiations with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.
He assured that he would inform Wang Yi on the situation in the Ukrainian direction and in the sphere of the Azerbaijani-Karabakh and Azerbaijani-Armenian settlement.
On September 19, Azerbaijan announced the start of “anti-terrorism measures” in Nagorno-Karabakh to “restorate the constitutional order.” Already on September 20, the unrecognized NKR announced a complete ceasefire and disarmament of troops through the mediation of Russian peacekeepers. Later this confirmed at the Russian Ministry of Defense.
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said that the intensity of military operations in Nagorno-Karabakh has decreased since the ceasefire. He also expressed hope that the right of the Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh to live in their homes will be ensured by Russia.
