Putin commented on the participation of Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova in the CIS

Some countries are still included in the CIS, but do not participate in this format, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a meeting of the Council of Heads of State – Members of the Commonwealth in a narrow format.
“Some countries that today may still be part of the CIS do not work in this format,” he said.
So Ukraine, he said, signed the fundamental documents on the CIS, but did not ratify these documents and never acceded in full format. Thus, Kyiv initially, Putin emphasized, avoided full-scale cooperation.
Moldova, the president believes, is practically “losing its identity”; the elites of the republic call themselves Romanians, but this is “their choice”; only the people of Moldova itself can interfere.
“With Georgia, it all started after the former president’s unsuccessful attempts to solve some internal problems through force and attacks on South Ossetia. And from the consequences that arose,” he added.
On October 12, Putin arrived in Kyrgyzstan, where he held talks with the country’s President Sadyr Japarov. This is the first foreign trip of the Russian President this year. It comes ahead of his trip to China next week. On October 13, the Russian leader held talks with the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon. The summit of CIS leaders will be attended by the presidents of Russia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan did not come to Bishkek.
