Putin commented on Russia’s withdrawal from the grain deal

Russian President Vladimir Putin blamed the termination of the grain deal on Western countries, which did everything to “derail it.” He stated this during a meeting with members of the government.

“Our so-called partners in the West did not want the strength to disrupt it, they did everything to derail it. And today, as our people say, they are literally lying to the whole world, saying that Russia is supposedly to blame for the failure of this deal,” he said.

Putin also emphasized that he “sincerely believes that the UN staff sincerely sought to fulfill all the promises made by the West,” although these promises were not realized as a result. At the same time, the President of Russia called impudence and impudence the failure to fulfill all the agreements and the demands of Western countries from Moscow “to ensure one, two, three.”

In turn, Russia “showed miracles of endurance and patience, tolerance” when it repeatedly extended the Black Sea initiative, Putin added.

On July 17, Russia announced its withdrawal from the grain agreement, which was signed on July 22, 2022 by representatives of Turkey, the UN, Russia and Ukraine. Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov explained this by the failure to fulfill Russian conditions under the grain deal. Later, he noted that Ukraine used the grain deal zone for military purposes and this “is not a secret to anyone.”

On July 22, separate agreements were concluded with Moscow and Kiev. The first is for the export of Ukrainian grain from three ports, including Odessa, Yuzhny and Chornomorsk, the second is for assistance in the export of Russian grain and fertilizers. The Russian authorities have repeatedly noted that the second part of the deal is not being implemented.
