According to the channel, Erdogan offered create an international commission to investigate the destruction of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station. He also stated that the same method can be used in the negotiation process, which is used when discussing the “grain deal”.

On the involvement of Kyiv in the destruction of the hydroelectric power station declared Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova. She also called the explosion of the dam a terrorist attack, which the Ukrainian authorities had planned in advance. Similar statements were made by Secretary of the Russian Security Council Nikolai Patrushev and Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu. The head of the defense ministry, in particular, noted that the incident would have severe and long-term consequences for the environment.

The breakthrough of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station occurred on the night of June 6. As a result of the incident, an uncontrolled discharge of water began, the level of which was about 11 m. Earlier, a local emergency regime was introduced in the district, and later, an emergency regime was introduced throughout the Kherson region. On June 7, the district administration reported that the water level in Novaya Kakhovka began to decline after the destruction of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station.

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said that the country will convene an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council because of the situation around the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station. Russia will take similar actions. The head of the European Council, Charles Michel, wrote on social networks that he was “shocked” by the breakthrough of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station and would raise the topic at the EU summit in late June.
