Vladimir Putin, the leader in the presidential elections, said that he dreamed of a strong and independent Russia. This is how he answered the question of Kommersant special correspondent Andrei Kolesnikov about the preliminary voting results: “Is this what you dreamed of?”

“I dreamed of a strong, independent, sovereign Russia. And I hope that the voting results will allow us all, together with the Russian people, to achieve these goals,” Mr. Putin said during a visit to his election headquarters.

After processing 90.07% of the protocols based on the results of voting in the elections, Vladimir Putin (self-nominated) dials 87.20% of the votes, Nikolai Kharitonov (Communist Party of the Russian Federation) – 4.28%, Vladislav Davankov (New People) – 3.94%, Leonid Slutsky (LDPR) – 3.16. The overall turnout was 74.22% (data as of 18:00 Moscow time).
