President Vladimir Putin said during a meeting with businessmen in Khabarovsk that the high key rate of the Central Bank is temporary. As the head of state noted, as inflation issues are resolved, the regulator’s position will change.

On December 15 last year, the Bank of Russia for the fifth time in a row raised key rate – from 15% to 16% per annum. The regulator explained its decision by inflationary pressure. December 28, Deputy Chairman of the Central Bank Alexey Zabotkin statedthat the regulator will need to keep the key rate high for a long time, but in 2024 it will decrease.
