Vladimir Putin held an online meeting with the heads of regions who won the recent regional elections. He stressed that “the elections were open, fair and competitive.” The turnout, he said, “was high”: this means that people understand how important it is to participate in the elections. The results of all governors are very convincing, “but this level of trust means even greater responsibility,” Putin emphasized.
He spoke about the priorities that regional heads should focus on: first of all, improving the quality and standard of living of citizens, increasing their incomes, as well as developing regional economies and creating new jobs.
Now, in this regard, according to Putin, is the time for new opportunities: “External pressure has become a powerful incentive for the development of our own production.” The president also called on governors to create comfortable conditions for business, support entrepreneurial initiatives and provide conditions for self-realization of young people “so that they can succeed in their native regions.”
The head of state identified support for “our soldiers” and “their families” as a separate task. “For all of us, caring for heroes is not so much a service duty, but a civic human duty. A debt of gratitude and respect to the defenders of the Fatherland,” Putin emphasized.
He noted that Russia has everything it needs “to effectively follow the chosen path and strengthen the country,” but much will depend on the quality of work of regional authorities.
In their response, the governors thanked Vladimir Putin for his support and promised to justify the trust placed in them.
“I give my word that I will not let you down,” said the head of the DPR Denis Pushilin. And the new governor of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, Mikhail Kotyukov, did not hide the fact that he owes his 70% of votes to the president. “Your trust has transformed into support for the Siberians,” he is confident.
