Ten nominations were established at the end of 2023 in order to encourage local self-government workers, who are an important pillar of power, on the eve of the presidential campaign. And in another month, despite the New Year holidays, about 3 million people became familiar with the projects. Online voting ended on January 14, and already on the 16th the winners, one by one, climbed onto the stage of the new concert hall in Skolkovo. These were municipal employees who managed to ensure an influx of tourists, introduce advanced digital solutions, improve the quality of life of citizens, improve the condition of roads and help the progress of the SVO. In particular, the winners of the “Defense of the Fatherland is a Common Cause” nomination organized the collection and storage of parcels for those mobilized in their car, apartment and even, as specified in the certificate, a 15-meter bathhouse, sewed 60 Leshy camouflage suits, made 360 camouflage nets and 8 thousand trench candles.
Vladimir Putin said that municipal authorities are closest to the people, and this is the difficulty of the work of this category of civil servants. After all, they have to be responsible not only for themselves, but also for others. And sometimes – for the whole country. He expressed hope that more and more people with the talent of communicating with people will appear in municipalities. “It is the municipal level, local self-government that determines the image of our big country, how people see their present and future,” Putin emphasized.
The President said that he had signed a decree establishing the honorary title “Honored Worker of Local Government,” and complained that this only happened now. “It was high time to do this… The traditions of domestic local self-government, its rich history go back centuries,” he recalled. According to GDP, it is very important for the federal government to strengthen the continuity of generations in this area. Young people, including soldiers returning from the Northern Military District zone, actively went to work in municipalities and in general to public authorities. “When people go through this crucible and return, many life priorities are lined up differently. Here you will no longer jump around without pants at any events. They have different values,” Putin is sure. He noted that young managers will have a better feel for their generation and respond more subtly to the demands of modern society.
The President proudly noted that many local self-government employees (as it later turned out,
3 thousand people) themselves are fighting in the Northern Military District zone. “This is a good example of the fact that people from your environment, at any level of government in general, do not sit in offices, but share the fate of the Motherland. They are together with the people and together with the army,” he emphasized. Separately, Putin greeted municipal employees from the new regions – “men of steel whom no one and nothing can break.”
Ilnara Safina from Bashkiria ultimately won the nomination “The Fate of Man is the Pride of Russia.” She received the statuette from the hands of the president. As the organizers explained, the winner’s husband, the head of the Meshchegarovsky village council, volunteered for the Northern Military District in 2022. However, the residents trust the Safin family so much that while the husband is fighting, his wife Ilnara was elected to the post of head of the village council. As a result, the Meshchegarovsky Village Council took first place in the All-Russian competition “Best Municipal Practice”.
However, at the meeting with municipalities they talked not only about the SVO. A representative of the Voronezh region reported on successes in the field of agriculture: “We make 60 types of cheese, including blue mold,” and we grew strawberries for Christmas. Vladimir Putin said that the other day he heard a joke on the topic: “Do you have blue cheese?” – “No. There are sausages.”
“Thank God we have blue cheese, that’s for sure! And the sausages are of the highest quality we need,” the president noted.
