In Russia it is necessary to take firm, timely and clear actions to protect the constitutional system, the rights and freedoms of citizens, interethnic and interreligious harmony. Russian President Vladimir Putin made this appeal to the heads of regions, heads of law enforcement agencies and special services.

“The stronger and more united Russia is, the better we will be able to defend our interests and the interests of the country that have become victims of neo-colonialism,” the president emphasized.

Putin spent meeting with members of the Security Council, government and leadership of law enforcement agencies after the unrest in Dagestan. On October 29, a crowd of activists burst into Makhachkala airport as a flight from Israel arrived there. The Investigative Committee for Dagestan opened a criminal case under Art. 212 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.

On October 30, the Ministry of Internal Affairs identified more than 150 rioters at the Makhachkala airport, 60 of them were detained. Airport operations were paralyzed until midday on October 30. The head of Dagestan, Sergei Melikov, said that the unrest was preceded by calls disseminated by pro-Ukrainian Telegram channels.
