The 400th Transylvanian Self-Propelled Artillery Regiment received the name “Guards” for “mass heroism and courage, steadfastness and courage”. The decree was signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“For mass heroism and courage, steadfastness and courage shown by the personnel of the regiment in combat operations to protect the Fatherland and state interests in armed conflicts, I decide: to assign the 400th self-propelled artillery Transylvanian Red Banner Order of Bogdan Khmelnitsky Regiment with the honorary name “Guards”” , says in decree head of state, published on the official Internet portal of legal information.
The name “Guards” means honor and participation in historically significant battles. In Russia, the guards were created by Peter I, under him the guards were a privileged, better-trained and better-equipped part of the troops. During the Great Patriotic War, this title was awarded to the armed forces, which distinguished themselves in battles. Today, “guards” are called more than 100 military units and formations of the army and navy.
The regiment is located in the city of Chebarkul, Chelyabinsk region. The regiment was formed in 1943. He participated in the Great Patriotic War from the 285th mortar regiment. In 1997 it was disbanded. In 2018, the regiment was again formed as part of the 90th Guards Tank Division. Among its weapons are the MLRS “Grad” and “Hurricane”, self-propelled howitzers “Acacia”.
