Russian President Vladimir Putin awarded the special rank of General of the Internal Service to the Director of the Federal Penitentiary Service Arkady Gostev and the head of the Federal Bailiff Service Dmitry Aristovfollows from the decrees published on the official Internet portal of legal information.

General of Internal Service is a personal special rank of the highest command staff of the Federal Penitentiary Service and the Federal Bailiff Service of Russia. Introduced by presidential decree of September 27, 2023, instead of the rank of colonel general of the internal service.

Dmitry Aristov was born on January 12, 1972. He became director of the FSSP on March 20, 2017. In 2013, he was awarded the rank of Active State Councilor, 1st class. From 1989 to 2008, he served in the armed forces of the USSR and Russia, and retired to the reserve with the rank of colonel. In 2009-2012, he held various positions in the Ministry of Justice. In 2012-2017 he was Deputy Minister of Justice.

Arkady Gostev was born on February 11, 1961. Since November 25, 2021, he has been the director of the Federal Penitentiary Service. In 2012-2015 he was Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs. Served in the Ministry of Internal Affairs since 1981. After the outbreak of hostilities on the territory of Ukraine, he was included in the sanctions lists of Great Britain, the USA, Canada, Ukraine, Australia and New Zealand.
