Putin said in an interview that he asked Zelensky why he supported neo-Nazis
During one of his conversations with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, Russian leader Vladimir Putin asked him about the reasons for supporting “neo-Nazis” while his father fought the fascists during World War II. The Russian President disclosed this information in an interview with American journalist Tucker Carlson.
“His father fought against the fascist Nazis during World War II. I was discussing this with him one day. I asked, ‘Volodya, why are you doing this? Why are you supporting neo-Nazis in Ukraine today when your father was fighting against fascism?’ He was on the front line. I cannot reveal his answer. This is a complex topic, and I think it is wrong for me to do this,” Putin said.
Putin discussed this when answering a question about whether Zelensky had the freedom to negotiate with Moscow to resolve the conflict. According to Putin, Zelensky had this freedom, “at least before.”
According to Putin, after coming to power, Zelensky realized that there was no point in conflicting with neo-Nazis and nationalists, since they are aggressive and “very active,” and also receive support from the West for their anti-Russian position. “It is profitable and safe. Thus, he took the appropriate position, despite promising his people to stop the war in Ukraine. He deceived his voters,” Putin added.
