Russian President Vladimir Putin held meeting on economic issues. Following the videoconference, he asked the government to objectively assess the events. Despite the fact that 2022 was a very difficult year for Russia, the President noted that at present “it is very important not to overstate or underestimate anything.”
“It is very important not to overestimate, not to underestimate, not to exaggerate, but not to underestimate, but here it is important to really calculate everything,” the president said during the meeting.
Vladimir Putin noted that the past year was difficult for Russia, nevertheless, the country managed to overcome the risks that arose unexpectedly. He also noted that in 2023 the Russian authorities have a better understanding of what risks are possible, so they need to be overcome more effectively.
“In 2022, we have them (risks.— “b”) did not know and did not understand, and yet we went through them: financial, budgetary, structural, logistical, and so on. We went through this forest, not understanding what would happen, we acted from the wheels, as they say, ”Mr. Putin summed up the year.
Also during the meeting, Vladimir Putin declaredthat the actual dynamics of the Russian economy in 2022 turned out to be better than many forecasts. Over the past year, the country’s GDP fell by 2.5%, while inflation was 11.9%. The head of state expects inflation to drop below the 4% target in the second quarter of 2023.
