Among the 40 members of the Public Chamber are the Russian heart surgeon Leo Bokeria, the president of the All-Russian Federation of Rhythmic Gymnastics Irina Viner-Usmanova, the singer Diana Gurtskaya, the rector of GITIS Grigory Zaslavsky, the grandmaster of Russia Sergey Karyakin, the head of the Synodal Department for Church Relations with Society and the Media of the Moscow Patriarchate Vladimir Legoyd, as well as writer Sergei Lukyanenko and pilot Konstantin Yaroshenko.
The Public Chamber of Russia was formed in 2005. Its activities are aimed at ensuring that the needs and interests of citizens are taken into account, and the protection of their rights and freedoms. The composition of the chamber is formed on the basis of the voluntary participation of Russian citizens, public associations and non-profit organizations. The term of office of the composition is three years. According to the presidential quota, the chamber includes 40 people, 43 more from all-Russian public associations and 1 person from public chambers of all regions.
