Putin appointed Major General Sonin as head of the Russian Guard for Moscow – Kommersant

The head of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy, Alexander Khinshtein, said that Russian President Vladimir Putin appointed Police Major General Vasily Sonin as head of the Main Directorate of the Russian Guard for Moscow.
In his Telegram channel Mr. Khinshtein wrote that Vasily Sonin previously headed the Moscow Main Command of the Russian Guard and brought him “to a leadership position within the department.”
The decree on the appointment of Mr. Sonin to the new position has not yet been published. Now on official website The Russian Guard has indicated Major General Viktor Dikevich as the head of the department’s Moscow headquarters. Vasily Sonin is still listed as the head of the Russian Guard department for the Moscow region.
Vasily Sonin was appointed head of the Moscow Region Russian Guard in March 2022, and in February 2023 he received the rank of police major general. In 1998, Mr. Sonin graduated from the Moscow Law Institute of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, in 2010 – from the Academy of Management of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, and is a candidate of legal sciences.
