Putin announced “ugly” attempts to create a unipolar world

The ongoing attempts to create a unipolar world have taken on an “ugly shape”, such a scenario is unacceptable for most countries. This statement was made by Russian President Vladimir Putin during a meeting with Chinese leader Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the SCO summit.

“Attempts to create a unipolar world have recently taken on an absolutely ugly shape and are absolutely unacceptable for the vast majority of states on the planet,” Putin said (quote according to TASS).

Earlier, the Russian leader has repeatedly criticized the model of a unipolar world. In April, he said that “the world is more complex today” than it was during the Cold War. That is why, according to Putin, the dominance of one country in such conditions is impossible. In June, he noted that the flaw in such a model is that “all the rules of business and international relations <...> interpreted solely in the interests of one power.

In July, at the Strong Ideas for a New Time forum, the President of the Russian Federation indicated to a new stage in world history. He specified that the unipolar system would be replaced by a fairer and safer option.

In August, Putin declaredthat the West is trying to maintain “the hegemony that is slipping out of its hands.” According to him, that is why the United States is interested in prolonging the military conflict in Ukraine. He also noted that the containment policy is being pursued in relation to other countries, in particular China.

At the Eastern Economic Forum in September, the Russian President shared their vision of multipolarity. “The world should be much more just, the world should not be based on the dictates of one country that imagines itself to be the representative of the Lord God on Earth,” Putin said.
