Russia is ready to increase the export of fertilizers to world markets, President Vladimir Putin said at a meeting with the chairman of the commission of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RSPP) on mineral fertilizers and the owner of Uralchem, Dmitry Mazepin, transmits Kremlin press office.

“And I know that the work is going on, the work is going quite successfully, despite the artificial obstacles that are created by some countries. Only world markets suffer from this, as I understand it. We are ready to expand this work with all partners, without any exception,” he said.

In turn, Mazepin noted that due to sanctions in European ports, about 400,000 tons of fertilizers were frozen at exporters, including 262,000 from Uralchem. At the same time, about 12 million tons of fertilizers out of 42 million tons produced this year were supplied to the domestic market. According to Mazepin, the domestic market is growing annually by 7-8%.

The entrepreneur also drew attention to the fact that Russia has established contacts with 26 African states in which food security is ensured. He suggested setting up free supplies of fertilizers to these countries under the auspices of the UN. Putin supported this proposal. “It will be right from a humanitarian point of view, and ultimately right from a business point of view, meaning that you will support your markets,” he said.

November 17 Russian Foreign Ministry informedthat the participants in the grain deal, including Russia, extended its validity by 120 days. Presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov noted that the extension of the agreement took into account the concerns that Moscow had previously expressed. “There is an assurance from the UN that the work to ensure Russian exports of food, grain and fertilizers will be finalized. This work has its results,” he said.

On July 22, representatives of Turkey and the UN signed separate agreements with representatives of Russia and Ukraine on the export of Ukrainian grain, as well as on assistance in the export of Russian grain and fertilizers. However, the Russian authorities soon accused the West of non-compliance with the second part of the agreement, which concerns the memorandum between Russia and the UN. At the same time, the UN said that they were working to remove restrictions that hinder the export of Russian grain and fertilizers.
