Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the share of mutual settlements in rubles doubled compared to December 2021 and amounted to about a third of the total. According to him, progress in the development of an independent payment infrastructure in national currencies is observed in Russia.
“We see the development of a convenient and independent payment infrastructure in national currencies as a solid basis for strengthening international cooperation. Here we have already made good progress. According to the latest data, the share of the Russian ruble in our international settlements doubled compared to December last year and amounted to one third, and together with the currencies of friendly countries, this share exceeded half,” the head of state said during a meeting of the Council for Strategic Development and National Projects in videoconference mode (quote from RIA Novosti).
Vladimir Putin toldthat in the first nine months of 2022, imports of Russian goods to the European Union increased by 1.5 times, exports to Russia – by 42%. The surplus traded in favor of Russia, according to the president, increased 2.3 times, to $138 billion.
