Putin announced a multiple increase in the economic sovereignty of Russia

The economic sovereignty of Russia has increased manifold in 2022, which was the most important result of the last year. This statement was made by Russian President Vladimir Putin during a visit to an aircraft factory in Ulan-Ude.

“Russia has passed a very important stage in its development this year. Do you know what the most important result of 2022 is? We have multiplied our economic sovereignty,” he said (quote according to TASS).

Putin also said that the problems caused by last year’s sanctions only benefited the Russian economy, and quoted the German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche – “what does not kill us makes us stronger.” According to the president, Russia has become more independent in the sphere of economy and finance.

The head of state noted that the unemployment rate in the country is 3.6%, which is a historical minimum. At the same time, he acknowledged that there was a decrease of 1% in real wages and real incomes of the population. At the same time, Putin added, “the trend is now going up after all.”

Previously, Putin has repeatedly stressed that the West’s calculation of “crushing” the Russian economy has not materialized. During his address to the Federal Assembly, President declaredthat the purpose of sanctions is to “make suffering” the people of Russia and thereby destabilize society from within.

He also said that the domestic economy was stronger than Western countries believed. Putin recalled that Russia’s GDP was predicted to fall by 20-25%, but at the end of 2022, the decline in the Russian economy amounted to 2.1%. The head of state noted that domestic business was able to rebuild logistics and strengthen ties with “predictable partners.”
