Putin and Zolotov discussed the work of the National Guard in Ukraine

Russian President Vladimir Putin held a meeting with the head of the National Guard Viktor Zolotov, at which he asked to report on how the work of the National Guardsmen participating in the special operation in Ukraine is being carried out.
“Viktor Vasilyevich, there are many questions, but we will start with one of the main ones, of course, with how the combat work of the units of the National Guard troops is going as part of the tasks during the special military operation in Donbass,” quotes head of state, the press service of the Kremlin.
Zolotov, in turn, told the president that the National Guard troops perform a wide range of tasks to ensure law and order and security, as well as to establish peaceful life in the territories of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics (DPR and LPR), as well as in Zaporozhye and Kherson regions.
“We are directly involved in hostilities, namely: reconnaissance and search, reconnaissance and ambush operations, as well as the detection and elimination of enemy sabotage and reconnaissance groups, sabotage and terrorist groups, the discovery of weapons caches, demining,” Zolotov emphasized.
Putin announced the start of the special operation on February 24. Then the president called its goal the demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine, as well as the protection of the civilian population of Donbass from genocide. During his speech at the Luzhniki Stadium at a concert in honor of the annexation of Crimea on March 18, Putin said that the main goal of the special operation was “to save people from this suffering and genocide.” In Ukraine, after the start of the special operation, martial law was introduced and mobilization was announced.
