Alexander Lukashenko at a press conference following the talks with Vladimir Putin said that he always supports Brazil, and then Argentina, since in these countries football is “not a philosophy, but something sacred.”
He revealed that he watched the entire final from start to finish, including the warm-up, and believes that Argentina deserved their victory as they dominated throughout the game.
“God was with France,” said the father, noting that “this does not happen, so that one and a half minutes before the end of the half it was possible to even the score.”
“But, like a true creator, the Lord retreated and gave victory to Argentina,” Lukashenka added. According to him, Argentina, with the help of the Lord God, won a very dramatic match, which was not even in the previous World Cup in Moscow.
Vladimir Putin, in turn, clarified that, in his opinion, “the Lord God was on the side of the fans, among other things,” and both teams should be thanked for the excellent game.
Unlike Lukashenka, the Russian president watched only the second half of the match, from the moment the score became 2:2. Putin said that after the decisive goal, “I could not resist calling the President of Argentina” and congratulating him on a well-deserved victory.
