Russian President Vladimir Putin and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in their telephone conversation confirmed their political will to work on all joint projects. The details of their conversation were given by the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov.
Answering a question from journalists about whether cooperation on the gas hub, the grain deal and the conflict in Ukraine were discussed during the negotiations, Dmitry Peskov said: “No, there were no such detailed discussions. There was confirmation of both intentions and political will to continue these conversations and detailed discussions. This is the main thing. Indeed, the potential of our relations is great. And we must use it to the fullest, which is what our presidents intend to do.”
Vladimir Putin phoned with Recep Tayyip Erdogan on May 29 and congratulated his Turkish counterpart on his victory in the second round of the presidential elections. According to the Kremlin press service, during the conversation, Mr. Putin emphasized Mr. Erdogan’s great contribution to the development of Russian-Turkish relations.
Recep Tayyip Erdogan won the second round of the presidential elections in Turkey with a margin of 4% over the single opposition candidate Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu. 52% of voters voted for the incumbent president, 48% for his opponent.
