Putin: actions of unfriendly countries are unpredictable and impulsive

He stressed that Russia should work according to its own logic and “keep the initiative.” The President of the Russian Federation added that it is necessary not only to respond to “unfriendly steps”, but also to solve problems in the economy, social sphere, etc.

Earlier, the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov said that some of the decisions of the European authorities can be explained by their irrationality. In particular, he mentioned the situation with Nord Stream. Peskov added that such decisions are “difficult to understand and impossible to explain.” At the same time, according to him, “ordinary citizens” have to pay for such steps.

After the start of the special operation in Ukraine, Western countries imposed large-scale sanctions against Russia. Many sectors of the economy fell under the restrictions, including energy, the high-tech sector, aviation, the banking industry, the mining industry, the automotive industry, etc.

However, the sanctions against Russia had a negative impact on the economies of foreign countries as well. The authorities of European states have repeatedly stated that the problems that have arisen are the price for Europe’s independence from Russia and its energy resources. At the same time, they recognized the fatigue of EU citizens from sanctions and the harm that restrictions cause to the European economy.

Nevertheless, the rhetoric of the European authorities does not change. The West insists that it will continue to support Ukraine and will not lift sanctions on Russia. At the same time, the EU is gradually increasing sanctions pressure on the Russian Federation. So, at the end of August, the EU countries abandoned the simplified procedure for issuing visas with Russia.

In addition, the European authorities are currently working on the eighth package of anti-Russian sanctions. August 29 Baltic countries suggested The European Commission to introduce into it measures in the field of trade and energy. The Estonian Foreign Ministry clarified that the new restrictions will also affect SWIFT, to individuals and legal entities.
