Russian President Vladimir Putin has accepted the resignation of Omsk Region Governor Alexander Burkov. According to the press service of the Kremlin, Vitaly Khotsenko has been appointed acting governor.
Alexander Burkov, 55, has been acting governor of the Omsk region since October 2017, and was appointed governor on September 14, 2018 after winning the election. Prior to that, he was a member of the State Duma.
37-year-old Vitaly Khotsenko worked as the head of the Department of Industrial Policy and Project Management of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, and in June 2022 he became the head of the government of the DPR. In December, he was slightly wounded in a restaurant in Donetsk where Dmitry Rogozin, who was also wounded, was celebrating his birthday.
At a meeting with Khotsenko, Putin noted that there are a lot of unresolved tasks in the Omsk region. “We need to talk with colleagues and those who come to update the team,” the president said,
