Pushkov explained Macron’s attempts to influence Russia through Saudi Arabia

Chairman of the Federation Council Commission on Information Policy Alexei Pushkov commented on the request of French President Emmanuel Macron to the leadership of Saudi Arabia to influence Russia.
He noted that Macron is not making such attempts for the first time. “He has already asked Xi Jinping, now he is asking bin Salman to ‘use his influence on Russia.’ I wonder how he sees it? And what, in fact, does he expect to influence through Saudi Arabia?” Pushkov wrote in his Telegram channel.
The senator also noted that there is a much simpler and more accessible way – to influence Ukraine.
“It’s much easier, because Ukraine is completely dependent on Western military and financial assistance, which EU foreign policy chief Borrell recently acknowledged,” Pushkov said.
He noted that the very fact of Macron’s appeal to Saudi Arabia is a recognition that the West has completely lost its leverage over Moscow.
“From this point of view, the appeal of the President of France to the Saudi leader speaks volumes,” Pushkov wrote.
