Biden’s speech at the UN General Assembly makes a strange, unconvincing impression, wrote Alexey Pushkov, a member of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation, in his Telegram channel.
The senator noted that Biden spoke as “the leader of the most peace-loving and law-abiding country on the planet, and not as the president of a state that constantly and flagrantly violates international law.”
Pushkov recalled that over the past 25 years, the United States has undertaken the largest number of aggressions and interventions against other countries.
“As if the United States did not bomb Yugoslavia, occupied Iraq, blew up Libya, made a huge contribution to the destruction of Syria and did not fight for 20 years in Afghanistan, far from them. How to perceive a pathetic appeal to the principles of international law from the president of the most aggressive power, known throughout the world for regular violations of these principles,” Pushkov wrote.
In his opinion, Biden has no right to portray the United States as a “defender of the sovereignty” of countries whose sovereignty and integrity they have encroached on in the past.
