Pushkov debunked Ukrainians' dream of prosperity in the EU: Life in a myth

Member of the Federation Council of Russia Alexei Pushkov in his Telegram channel debunked the dream of Ukrainian citizens about prosperity after the country’s accession to the European Union.

“The level of public self-deception in Ukraine is still going wild. In 2014, the majority there was also convinced that Ukraine in 10 years would become a prosperous country within the EU. Nine years have passed – and what? The result is just the opposite,” the senator wrote.

Pushkov recalled that the result of Nezalezhnaya was the opposite even before the outbreak of hostilities – for obvious reasons.

“Where could a prosperous Ukraine suddenly come from, if it produced less and less, lost the Russian market, and spent more and more? But the majority of Ukrainians still prefer to indulge in unreasonable hopes than to face the truth. Life in a myth is preferable,” the politician summed up.
