Member of the Federation Council of Russia Alexei Pushkov commented on his Telegram channel on the demonstrative burning of the Koran in the capital of Sweden, Stockholm.
According to the Russian senator, this act was not an accident or an attack by a madman.
“This is a calculated step to arouse indignation in Turkey. The State Department is unlikely to help here, except to force the Swedish government to make concessions to Erdogan, which Stockholm karegorically does not want to make,” Pushkov wrote.
The senator noted that the ambassador of this incident “Erdogan has all the trump cards in his hands from now on.”
“He has already stated that Sweden should not expect support from him in joining NATO. And if he does not give up under pressure from the United States, he can keep Sweden in the NATO dressing room for a very long time,” the member of the Federation Council summed up.
