Senator Alexey Pushkov in his Telegram channel commented Saudi Arabia’s refusal to continue the process of normalizing relations with Israel.
“Such normalization with the goal of “embedding” Israel into the surrounding Muslim world was one of the main, if not the main goal of US diplomacy in the Middle East,” the politician noted.
According to him, the main victim of this normalization was to be Palestine. Pushkov noted that: “her desire to create her own state based on UN decisions should have been deprived of relevance, buried and pushed to the very margins of Middle Eastern politics.”
Earlier, the Arab news agency Elaph, citing a representative of the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, reported that Riyadh informed Washington of the decision to stop negotiations on normalizing relations with Israel.
The agency, citing informed sources in the United States, also claimed that Riyadh involved Palestinian representatives in discussions about negotiations with Israel so that they could demarcate the borders of a partially recognized state without Israeli pressure and included a clause on this in the agreement on normalization of relations.
