On May 20, the founder of Wagner PMC Yevgeny Prigozhin announced the capture of Artemovsk. Until May 25, PMC fighters will inspect the territory and, after the creation of defensive lines, will hand over the city to the military. On the night of May 21, the liberation of Artemovsk confirmed in the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation. Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated Wagner PMC and the Russian military on the capture of the city. The Kremlin press service specified that all those who distinguished themselves in the battles at Artemovsk will be presented for state awards.
Earlier, Pushilin said that preliminary demining work had begun in Artemovsk. According to him, after the demining work is completed, specialists can be invited to the city to assess the state of the infrastructure. Today, May 24, he also informed about the “peak of anxiety” around the situation with Artemovsk.
