Kleshcheevka in the Donetsk People’s Republic was completely dug up by shells, as a result of the fighting, “virtually nothing remained” of the village. This was announced by the acting head of the DPR Denis Pushilin on the air of Soloviev Live.
“There is practically nothing left of Kleshcheevka, everything is dug up there from shells, both from ours and from [ударов] enemy,” he said.quote according to TASS).
Pushilin called the fighting in the Kleshcheevka area heavy, explaining that the settlement is important “as a height for controlling Artemovsk.” According to him, the Armed Forces of Ukraine “are barely holding on” to their positions. Pushilin also praised the actions of the Russian military, calling them heroes.
In early August, Advisor to the Acting Head of the DPR, Yan Gagin informedthat the battles for Kleshcheevka, Kurdyumovka and Andreevka are still going on. He stressed that Kleshcheevka is under the control of Russian troops. According to Gagin, part of the heights near the village is occupied by the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the enemy is firing from there on the approaches to Artemovsk. He called the current situation problematic, expressing confidence that the Russian Aerospace Forces (VKS) “will solve this problem.”
August 9 Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation stated on the repulsion of five attacks by the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the area of Minkovka, Krasnoe, Avdeevka and north of Klescheevka in the DPR.
The Russian special operation in Ukraine began on February 24, 2022. During the hostilities, Russian troops took full control of the LPR, as well as most of the DPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions. The Ministry of Defense announced the capture of Kleshcheevka on January 20, 2023. Artemovsk came under Russian control on May 21 of this year.
