The situation on the flanks near Artemovsk (Ukrainian name – Bakhmut) is “very difficult, but controllable,” Denis Pushilin, acting head of the Donetsk People’s Republic, told Rossiya 24.
“As for the flanks: the situation is controlled, very difficult, difficult, but controllable. And we also see that the enemy continues shelling, that is, perhaps without any excessive active actions in terms of moving manpower, but with the use of artillery this actually happens, ” leads his words to RIA Novosti.
Also Pushilin reportedthat in recent days the armed forces of Ukraine (AFU) tried to advance in the Avdiivka direction, but were repulsed. “In the area of the settlement of Vodiane, the enemy tried to take positions with quite serious forces, as a result of fierce battles, the enemy was at least partially driven back, but the clash is still ongoing, artillery is helping,” the acting head of the DPR said. Pushilin also spoke about the enemy’s attempts to take action in the direction of the village of Experienced, but he was driven back, having suffered losses.
On May 20, the founder of Wagner PMC Yevgeny Prigozhin announced the capture of Artemovsk. He clarified that before May 25, PMC fighters would inspect the territory and, after the creation of defensive lines, they would hand over the city to the military. On the night of May 21, the liberation of Artemovsk confirmed in the Russian Ministry of Defense. Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated PMC “Wagner” and the Russian military with the capture of the city. In the Kremlin press service clarifiedthat all those who distinguished themselves in the battles at Artemovsk will be presented for state awards.
