Pushilin announced the need to liberate Chernigov and Odessa

Odessa and Chernigov should come under the control of Russia, but it is wrong to name the terms for the liberation of the cities now. Such a statement did Acting Head of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) Denis Pushilin in an interview with RIA Novosti.

He noted that now the Russian military is focused on taking control of the DPR completely. “In order to ensure the security of the territory of the DPR, its inhabitants, we will need to move the enemy to such a distance that the enemy cannot reach our settlements,” Pushilin added.

The acting head of the DPR admitted that in order to achieve the goals of the special operation, it would not be possible to “get along” without Chernigov and Odessa. In his opinion, these cities should be liberated. At the same time, Pushilin added, it would be “wrong” to talk about the timing of these events.

Prior to this, the importance of Odessa for the Ukrainian conflict was explained by Russian President Vladimir Putin. During the plenary session of the Valdai Discussion Club, he declaredthat the city can become both a “bone of contention” and a “symbol of conflict resolution”.

Russia’s special operation in Ukraine began on February 24. Russian President Vladimir Putin called the protection of the inhabitants of Donbass, as well as the demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine, its goals. During the special operation, Russian troops took control of the LPR, as well as most of the DPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions. Subsequently, these territories became part of Russia, and on October 19 martial law was introduced in the regions.
