The General Prosecutor’s Office of Russia has recognized the activities of the foreign organization BDR Novaja Gazeta-Europe – Novaya Gazeta Europe – as undesirable. About it reported in the department.
The Prosecutor General’s Office explained that the organization was founded by a Latvian journalist with Russian citizenship Kirill Martynov, who is recognized in Russia as a foreign agent.
“In fact, the specified organization carries out activities to create and distribute tendentious information materials to the detriment of the interests of the Russian Federation,” the ministry said in a statement.
They added that the publication mainly writes “false information about allegedly massive violations of rights” in Russia and accuses the country of “unleashing a war in Ukraine.” At the same time, according to the Prosecutor General’s Office, the newspaper distributes materials of extremist and organizations recognized as undesirable on the territory of the Russian Federation.
The Prosecutor General’s Office came to the conclusion that the activities of the newspaper “pose a threat to the foundations of the constitutional order” and the security of the state.
At the same time, the department added that former members of the editorial board of the Russian Novaya Gazeta, which was formerly the Basmanny District Court deprived certificates of registration as mass media due to violations of the law.
