Military expert Vladimir Prokhvatilov assessed the possibility of uniting Arab states to fight Israel after the attack on a hospital in Gaza, calling it a “provocation with a double bottom.”
“There will be no total jihad. I think the conflict will change,” Prokhvatilov said in interview News.ru. According to him, Israel has suspended the operation in order to evacuate civilians from the Gaza Strip, but Egypt is not allowing them into its territory, fearing the expansion of the conflict.
The expert also believes that the numerous destruction of houses in the Gaza Strip makes a ground operation problematic, since under these conditions it will be easier for Hamas’s military wing to organize defense. According to Prokhvatilov, 40 thousand Hamas militants may be concentrated in the Gaza Strip, and if tanks and artillery cannot enter the city, then clearing it for the IDF will be very problematic.
“I think the conflict will freeze,” Prokhvatilov expressed his opinion, adding that the conflict will not develop into a large long-term war.
