Professor of the Russian Academy of Sciences explained the US attempt to prevent the attack of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Gerasimov

Professor of the Russian Academy of Sciences Alexander Gusev commented on the information that the United States tried to prevent the Armed Forces of Ukraine from carrying out an attack on the head of the General Staff of the RF Armed Forces Valery Gerasimov.

Earlier, the New York Times published an article in which it was reported that Washington asked Kyiv to cancel the attack on the building where the head of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces Valery Gerasimov was located when he arrived in the zone of the special military operation. The article notes that in Kyiv they answered that the attack had already begun. Later, Aleksey Arestovich, an adviser to the office of the President of Ukraine, confirmed that the Ukrainian military carried out such a strike, but they did not know that by that time Valery Gerasimov had already left.

“This fits into the overall strategic position of the United States,” Gusev explained, adding that Washington is not interested in a tough confrontation with Russia.

According to him, they are ready to help Kyiv, make weapons and make money on it, but they are not interested in “removing high-ranking officials in the RF Ministry of Defense.”

Gusev stressed that this would lead to “very serious complications,” up to and including a “complete break in relations.”

The expert once again noted that at the moment the United States is ready for confrontation with Russia only indirectly – “by the hands of Ukrainians.”
