Primorye and North Korea are going to sign an agreement on the development of tourism

The authorities of Primorsky Krai and North Korea are developing an agreement on cooperation in the field of tourism. It is not known when it will be signed. This was reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the Primorsky Territory Tourism Agency.

According to the Primorsky Territory Tourism Agency, “the document is aimed at expanding cooperation between the parties.” The agreement implies “the exchange of information on existing tourist routes, the development of new ones, interaction in the development of tourism infrastructure, the organization of events in the field of tourism, including industry exhibitions and conferences, as well as other areas of cooperation in the field of tourism.”

The agency plans to sign an agreement with the Department of Foreign Affairs of the General Administration of Tourism of the DPRK. The document must be signed “in working order”, when exactly, is not specified.

Before the coronavirus pandemic, tourists could come to the DPRK as part of a tourist group; it is impossible to visit the country on your own. The trips were organized by foreign travel agencies that received accreditation from the DPRK Foreign Ministry. Since 2020, the borders of North Korea have been closed to tourists due to the coronavirus pandemic, and flights between Vladivostok and Pyongyang have also been suspended.
