Prime Minister of Spain announced the allocation of assistance to Kyiv for 55 million euros

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez said during a visit to Kyiv that Madrid would allocate a new aid package to Ukraine in the amount of 55 million euros. He announced this, speaking to the Ukrainian parliament, writes El Mundo newspaper.

Sanchez, during his speech in parliament, said that Spain will support Ukraine “regardless of the price that will have to be paid.”
The Spanish Prime Minister also said that Kyiv will receive 51 million euros through the World Bank, the funds will be directed to support small and medium-sized Ukrainian companies. Another 4 million euros Ukraine will receive through the UN Development Program to supply schools with “green” energy systems. In addition, Madrid intends to supply Kyiv with more Leopard battle tanks, armored personnel carriers, and also organize a field hospital.
Sanchez called Ukraine’s aspiration to the European Union “not an easy process.” He stressed the importance of reforms by improving the economy, attracting investment and building international confidence, writes El Mundo.
After the start of Russia’s special operation in Ukraine, Spain began to provide military assistance to Kyiv. The volume of military support in January of this year was estimated by the country’s prime minister at 300 million euros. On April 22, Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albarez announced the transfer of six of the ten promised Leopard 2A4 tanks to Ukraine. In addition, Spain trains Ukrainian military personnel on its territory. More than 1,000 military personnel have already been trained, according to the Minister of Defense of the Kingdom, Margarita Robles.
