The Finnish authorities do not intend to conduct political discussions with the Russian side regarding the situation that has arisen on the border. This was announced by Prime Minister of Finland Petteri Orpo in an interview with the newspaper. Helsingin Sanomat.

“We are ready for discussion at the diplomatic level… There are no political discussions with Russia,” said the Finnish prime minister.

According to him, Helsinki is not going to facilitate negotiations because of the situation on the Russian-Finnish border while the special operation continues in Ukraine.

Earlier, the Finnish government announced that due to the worsening situation with migration and the uncontrolled arrival of refugees from Russia, a decision was made to close checkpoints from November 18, 2023 to February 18, 2024.

At the moment, there is only one checkpoint operating on the border in the north – Raja-Joosepi.
