Prilepin nominated for co-chair of A Just Russia – For Truth

The delegates of the congress of A Just Russia – For the Truth on May 20 will nominate the writer Zakhar Prilepin for the post of co-chairman of the party, State Duma deputy from the SRZP Nikolai Novichkov told Vedomosti. He expressed hope that the congress would support this decision.

Prilepin’s car was blown up on the morning of May 6 in the Nizhny Novgorod region. As a result of the explosion, Prilepin’s assistant and ally, Alexander Shubin, a native of Lugansk, who previously served in the LPR, died. The writer himself was injured and underwent surgery, at present he continues treatment and is under the supervision of doctors.
On May 7, A Just Russia – For Truth announced that the congress scheduled for May 20 would not be postponed after the assassination attempt on Prilepin. The party plans to hold a congress in the Moscow region on May 20, its agenda includes the election of the chairman and co-chairs of the party, the presidium of the central council of the party and some other party bodies. Prilepin is currently co-chair of the SRHR.
On May 8, the Semenovsky District Court of the Nizhny Novgorod Region sent Alexander Permyakov, accused of attempting to kill Prilepin, into custody for two months. Permyakov was charged with a terrorist attack (Article 205 of the Criminal Code) and illegal arms trafficking (Article 222 of the Criminal Code). Prior to this, the accused confessed to working for the Ukrainian special services.
