Prilepin’s press secretary, Elizaveta Kondakova, added that the Oplot battalion was in the process of “transformation and expansion.” According to her, now Prilepin’s headquarters is also forming a volunteer battalion “Rodnya” and a motorized rifle battalion “Seraphim Sarovsky” (as part of the Ministry of Defense) jointly with the Nizhny Novgorod government.

Earlier today, the Daily Strom edition, citing a source in the Russian Guard reportedthat Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on the creation of regiments of the Russian Guard for special purposes. One of them will be created on the basis of Oplot, Prilepin will take a leading position in it. The interlocutor of the publication noted that in the future the regiment will move “to its own base in the liberated territories.”

Now Zakhar Prilepin is undergoing treatment after an assassination attempt. On May 6, the writer’s car was blown up in the Nizhny Novgorod region. As a result, Prilepin’s assistant and ally, Alexander Shubin, a native of Luhansk, who previously served in the LPR, died. The writer himself suffered and underwent several operations.
