Prigozhin proposed to ban civil servants from resting abroad during the special operation

The founder of Wagner PMC Yevgeny Prigozhin wrote a letter to Vasily Piskarev, Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Security and Anti-Corruption, asking at the legislative level to prohibit officials and deputies from leaving Russia on vacation during the military operation in Ukraine.

“I ask you to consider the possibility at the legislative level to prohibit officials and deputies of the Russian Federation during the NWO in Ukraine from going on vacation outside the Russian Federation, as well as to legislate their responsibility for immoral behavior, including close relatives, expressed in ostentatious spending, and abuse luxury goods,” the entrepreneur wrote in a letter published on the Telegram channel “Prigozhin’s Cap”.

In the letter, the founder of the PMC said that the vacation of officials abroad damages the reputation of the government, and also carries possible security risks, given the work of Western intelligence agencies. In his opinion, the desire of officials and deputies for “ostentatious luxury and unbridled consumption” irritates people. “Such a situation is unacceptable and causes a serious split in society,” Yevgeny Prigozhin emphasized.

Former State Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin offered to introduce amendments to the parliamentary regulations obliging deputies to notify the State Duma Committee for Control of leaving Russia (except for business trips). On January 17, Kommersant found out that the governor of the Vologda Oblast, Oleg Kuvshinnikov (United Russia), “strongly recommended” deputies and officials of the region “to refrain from traveling to foreign countries.” Similar unofficial bans have been introduced in the Ulyanovsk and Tambov regions, as well as in the Republic of Mari El, Chuvashia and North Ossetia. In the Kremlin declaredthat “hardware restrictions” on the vacation of Russian officials abroad have not been established.

At the beginning of the year, there were two scandals related to the New Year holidays of regional deputies. First, sharp criticism was caused by a video from the rest of the non-partisan deputy of the Kursk Regional Duma Maxim Vasilyev (a video with him from Mexico got on the Internet), and then a selfie by a member of the United Russia faction in the Vologda Legislative Assembly Denis Dolzhenko from Dubai.
