The press service of Yevgeny Prigozhin published his appeal to the Ukrainian authorities about the city of Bakhmut (the Russian name is Artemovsk). From the short statement of the founder of PMC “Wagner” it follows that he turned to President Vladimir Zelensky.
“Dear Vladimir Alexandrovich…” Prigogine begins his address.
Further, he claims that “many are turning to the addressee with a request to withdraw troops from Bakhmut.”
“Don’t do this. Artemovsk is the main event of this war,” Prigozhin said in a statement. “We must fight on.”
According to him, if the Armed Forces of Ukraine retreat from the city, this will be cowardice and a reason to lose respect, because “the Ukrainian people will not forgive you for surrendering Artemovsk to a private military structure.”
“Resist. Fight to the end,” Prigogine summed up.
Earlier on Friday, Zelensky had already said that “no one will hand over Bakhmut”.
