Units of PMC Wagner have taken control of the village of Yagodnoye north of Artemovsk (Ukrainian name – Bakhmut) in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), said the founder of the company Yevgeny Prigozhin. His statement was published in the Telegram channel of the press service.
“At 7 p.m. on February 25, assault units of the PMC Wagner completely captured the village of Yagodnoye in the north of Bakhmut,” Prigozhin said.
On February 17, Prigozhin reported that he had taken control of the village of Paraskovievka north of Artemovsk. He also noted that Russian forces could surround Artemovsk, the battles for which have been going on for several months, in March-April of this year. On February 16, adviser to the acting head of the DPR, Igor Kimakovsky, announced the capture of all the heights in the vicinity of Artemovsk. The next day, Kyiv called for the evacuation of the residents of Artemovsk, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced the start of an offensive by Russian troops in several directions.
