France arming Armenia will become the culprit of a new possible confrontation between Yerevan and Baku. This was especially noted by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev during telephone conversations with the head of the European Council Charles Michel.
The focus of politicians’ attention was the situation in the Caucasus. According to the press service of the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev especially noted that France, by arming Armenia, does not contribute to peace, but creates a new round of tension in the region. He stressed that in the event of a new confrontation, it is Paris that will bear responsibility.
The Azerbaijani leader confirmed that it was his disagreement with the position of France that explained his refusal to negotiate in Granada. At the same time, Aliyev said that he considered it incorrect to mention Azerbaijan in the final statement adopted by the leaders of France, Germany, Armenia and the EU, since Baku ignored the meeting.
The President of Azerbaijan also stated that eight villages are still occupied by Armenia and emphasized the need for their liberation.
