President Biden extends Syria sanctions by one year

US President Joe Biden has decided to extend the sanctions against Syria for another year. This executive order was issued in 2004 and allows the US administration to impose restrictions on the SAR, including the freezing of assets of individuals and legal entities, as well as restrictions on the export of goods and services.
Biden justified his decision by saying that the actions of the Syrian government continue to pose a threat to US national security, foreign policy and the economy. He also accused the SAR authorities of violating human rights and waging war against their people.
