The call-up hotline 122 said that monks can be called up as part of the partial mobilization if they have a military ID, as in this case they are in reserve.
“All citizens of the Russian Federation who are in the reserve of the armed forces are subject to mobilization, – declared RBC on the line. “He (the monk) is the same citizen of Russia as everyone else.”
They added that “even if he has never served, but has a military ID in his hands,” the monk “may be called up for partial mobilization.”
RBC notes that earlier Vakhtang Kipshidze, a representative of the Synodal Department for Church Media Relations, said that clergymen can participate in a special operation in Ukraine only as confessors.
