Statements by Moldovan Foreign Minister Mihai Popsoi about possible exclusion from the Russian stop list may indicate his intention to visit Russia to improve bilateral relations, RIA Novosti reports, citing a source in Moscow.
The source noted that the interest of the new Moldovan minister in being excluded from the stop list probably indicates an intention to make a visit to Moscow with the aim of establishing diplomatic ties. He also added that the new head of the Moldavian Foreign Ministry is expected to take practical steps in this direction.
Last August, Moldovan authorities decided to expel 45 Russian embassy employees from Chisinau. According to the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov, this decision is considered as an action directed against Moscow. In response, Russian authorities imposed an entry ban on 18 Moldovan MPs, including Mihai Popsoi.
