Pope cancels trip to Dubai due to illness

The head of the Holy See press service, Matteo Bruni, said that Pope Francis canceled his trip to Dubai for the 28th UN Climate Change Conference (COP28) due to illness.
According to Bruni, Pope Francis was diagnosed with a flu-like condition and inflammation of the respiratory tract. He added that the pontiff’s condition has now improved, but doctors asked him not to make the trip and Pope Francis agreed with great regret.
Bruni stressed that the pope and the Holy See remain willing to take part in the discussions at the climate forum, so the Vatican will soon determine ways to implement this.
